Roger Vivier Exhibition

Th Bata Shoe Museum asked me to photograph the shoe collection for the exhibition Roger Vivier: From Process to Perfection.

The Bata Shoe Museum is one of my Ontario museum clients. I have photographed footwear in the permanent collection and for featured exhibitions. My images have appeared in exhibition catalogues, and other publications too numerous to mention.

I enjoyed working on the exhibition Roger Vivier: From Process to Perfection. The exhibition  ran from May 9, 2012 to April 7, 2013. Roger Vivier is credited as the inventor of the stiletto heel and his shoes are considered to be the “Faberge of Shoe Design”. For decades, Vivier designed shoes for the great fashion designer Christian Dior. His shoes have been worn by notable celebrities including Queen Elizabeth and the actress Ava Gardner.

As you can see from the photographs below, Roger Vivier’s shoes are works of art – beautifully designed, sophisticated and elegant.

Note: Only the first shoe has a heel. The other shoes are working models.
